Doctors Flowers and Paris Arrested, Re: Obama and Medicare for All

On Jan. 29, 2010, Doctors Margaret Flowers and Carol Paris were arrested outside a hotel, at the Inner Harbor, in Baltimore, MD, where President Barack Obama was to give a speech. They were on a sidewalk outside the Renaissance hotel holding a banner. The doctors had a letter that they wanted to give to the President and/or one of his aides, re: “Medicare for All”. They were arrested for trespassing, according to a police officer at the scene. Later after getting into a police car, this reporter was advised, the two doctors were released, without going to the local lockup. Each was then given” a citation” for trespassing. Basically what im trying to say is that your level of care isnt dependant on how deep your pockets are. good luck USA

Im an Australian and we have a socialised health system. Sure its not perfect but i can tell you one thing, you never get turned away for not having health insurance. You never get booted out of hospital on the day of major surgery because your insurance company decides not to accept your claim. And ya know what..you can still have private heath insurance if you can afford it..its optional .. not a must to get heathcare in our country..i hope you get the bill passed..only greed will stop it

Great lesson on civil disobedience! These womyn ROCK!!!!

‘No one dies from “lack of health care”.”

You can’t be THAT fucking stupid. 40,000 people do per year. The system works great if you are rich.

….And win? You haven’t won anything, except and all expense paid trip to he funny farm if anyone ever exposes your identity, you right-wing nut!

Anon: ignore this loser.

Tgay, you are a whackjob. Why are you even on here? If you do not like Single Payer, go watch FOX News, the propaganda arm of the GOP and spew all of the right-wing crap you want and go blog with your Freeper brothers and sisters elsewhere.

If you were truly interested in Medicare for All, you would bother researching it, as anonymousb2b said below, not posting a very long list of substance-free, asinine rants….

HAHAHA. EPIC WIN.

What do you do, go to single payer videos and flame people all day? Get a life, I agree with the person below.

the hotel is owned by a corporation, not a private individual: and corporations are considered persons in teh eyes of the law. And studies do show that Canadians support public health care.

Try reading and researching sometime; you are clearly unfamiliar with anything on this topic.

get a life, crank.

Who is “us”, and what the hell do the teabaggers have to do with anything you just said?

The “hotel’s rights” are actually that of the hotel owner, so don’t look ignorant and say that “rights are for humans”. Also, please tell me what “rights are being violated”? I am unfamiliar of any right to government-run health care.

I wouldn’t bother to credit the Left with being big and bad.

Keep stopping the public option, I’m sure at some point everyone will just say ahhh the heck with it, let’s just have that single payer thingy.

Tee hee hee, we agree.

If someone was being hurt, then it really is a shame these women where wasting the police officers time. Essentially, the women could have had their protest 25ft over on public property to save that poor soul. Instead they proverbially stood on that persons throat. So much for do no harm part of the oath!

If you boycott, I think they should add it to their list of amenities that they are now “100% Free from all Crazies”. I will bow before you if you can put a 5% decline in their next quarters profits from the previous year, and with the weakened economy you’ve got odds on your side.

You simply show no understanding for property rights. The hotel owns the property and may choose which messages it wants to allow. So it could very well welcome a RAVENS sign and disallow a POLITICAL sign. Heck, it could even choose which political signs it allows and doesn’t. The private property argument is the correct argument, in fact it is the reason for the arrest. Your argument, WEAK.

Why do you feel an everything or nothing option is the correct solution? Wouldn’t you find rationale in the concept of taking steps in that direction to make it possible to ascertain such a lofty goal?

LMAO, “the Canadians, I know because I actually have been to Canada many times, DO NOT want a US health care system”, regardless of the accuracy or inaccuracy of that statement, it is simply laughable that, in a post were you rail on someone for blending facts and opinion, you use your personal experience alone as opinion. Tell me have you even stepped foot in every province, or gone to a hockey game?

Smaller government being the solution, and job creation?… Your politics truly have me perplexed considering your earlier statements. Maybe there is hope for you yet.

No one dies from “lack of health care”. People die from disease. Death is inevitable, suffering is inevitable. The debate lies in the money. Do we continue a system of rationing health care based on who can afford it (pure capitalism)? Or, do we change the system and ration through other methods?

Out of sheer curiosity just exactly where do you land on the political spectrum? My assumption is that you are incredibly far-left. Because you seem to be in favor of government run health care, but certainly are no fan of the work of President Obama.

So by implication having the government choose who lives and who dies is superior?

1st, I didnt respond the same day, big deal. 2nd, I in no way changed position. I pointed out to you that my original comment was regarding the current protest (to which you still have not shown the impact of their arrest). I also expanded to address your misinterpretation; no impact on the greater debate, which ultimately is the purpose of the video, to show that the Obama Presidency is ignoring the ideas that he “asked” for. PS If you respond at least debate, not feeble outdated name calling.
