I am making gift baskets for the families on my list this year any ideas of what I can include?
So far I have a picture frame with our sons christmas pic, candy canes, and some type of homemade treat like muffins..
What else would be good and cheap to include?…I have 10 baskets to make!
also, does anyone have a yummy muffin or bannana/pumpkin bread recipe?

You could dip pretzels. That’s usually pretty cheap. You can also make them festive by sprinkling them with red and green sugar right after you’ve dipped them.
If I am making a family basket, I like to make a theme basket. A movie, popcorn and snacks, an ice cream basket with bowls, a scoop and toppings. Make it fun for the whole family!
I always like to include chapstick at this time of year, everyone needs it-make sure to buy ones that don’t look/smell girly for the boys/men in the family to use.
Hot cocoa is always a hit as is tea or coffee. It goes well with cookies, muffins, etc.
Here is what you need to make edible Magic wands:
* Pretzel Rods
* White Chocolate Chips or Almond Bark
* Colorful Sugar or Star-Shaped Sprinkles

Start out by melting some of the white chocolate in the microwave in a small bowl. How much you melt will depend on how many wands you are making. While you are waiting for the chocolate to melt completely, line a cookie sheet with wax paper.
Once the chocolate is melted, make the wands by dipping both ends of a pretzel rod into the chocolate to coat about 1-inch in white. Lay the pretzel rod on the wax paper on the cookie sheet and sprinkle right away with your colored sugar or star sprinkles. Set aside, do not refrigerate, until the chocolate has hardened.
Instead of white chocolate or almond bark, you can also use white frosting; however, these are better if eaten immediately.

Next recipe:
Home made bread:
5 to 6 c. flour
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 pkg. dry yeast
2 c. water
1/4 c. vegetable oil
In large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast. Blend well. In small saucepan, heat water and oil until very lukewarm (120 to 130 degrees). Add warm liquid to flour mixture. Blend until moistened, then beat with beater 3 minutes. Stir in 2 1/2 to 3 cups flour until dough pulls cleanly away from side of bowl.
Knead 10 minutes, adding a little flour at a time, if dough feels sticky. Grease lump of dough. Put in bowl to rise and cover with towel. Let rise until double, then punch down. Divide dough into 2 parts and shape into balls. Let rise on counter covered with inverted bowl for 15 minutes.
Shape into loaves and place in 2 greased pans. Let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until it has risen about 1 inch above pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or until loaf sounds hollow. Remove from pans and brush top with butter. Makes 2 loaves.
Hope this helps!

You might get ideas from a Generational Gift Basket idea I just posted on my blog http://www.ourpastourfuture.blogspot.com. Here are some ideas from it:
If I were making baskets for my family, I would include a taste of things that were old family favorites. Nuts and Bolts was always served at parties. My grandma loved gooseberry jam (I’d buy not make) Divinity was a candy they used to make. They always had Jell-O with small marshmallows. If not served by your family much today, include box of Jell-O and the marshmallows. I would type up a few or more family recipes into a little booklet or give hole punched and tied with ribbon or put in a cute recipe box. Special photos of older family members (the recipient may not have) in frames . A membership to Ancestry.com. A book to write in “family tree” info.
